reflection of cultural food

Food Tech Reflection – Cultural Festive Foods

This semester in Food Tech, our main focus was Cultural Festive Foods, and it ended up being one of the most enjoyable terms I’ve had in the subject. We learned about different cultures, their traditions, and the kinds of foods people make to celebrate special events. It was cool seeing how much meaning food can carry, and how every culture has its own unique flavours and techniques.

We finished the term with a Cultural Food Festival, where each group cooked a dish from a different culture. My group chose to make German burgers, and they turned out surprisingly great. The process was fun from start to finish—mixing the spices, shaping the patties, cooking everything, and then assembling the final burgers.

The burgers ended up being kinda spicy, but in a good way. The patties were really juicy, and overall they tasted way better than I expected. It felt awesome seeing people try our food and enjoy it. Working together as a group also made it more fun, and everyone had a role to play.

Overall, the festival was a success, and the whole unit taught me a lot—not just about cooking, but about culture, teamwork, and creativity in the kitchen. I’m definitely proud of what we made.
